Hello! This is 365happy365, bringing you happy daily stories.
Everyone... the day has finally arrived. The very day we have been counting down to with circles on our calendars! Saturday, March 21, 2026 — BTS has completed their military service and is back!
It has been a full 3.5 years since the October 2022 Busan concert since all seven members stood on stage together. Their 5th full album "Arirang" dropped yesterday, sending shockwaves around the world, and today they are holding a free comeback concert right in the heart of Seoul: Gwanghwamun Square.
What makes this even more exciting is that major international media outlets are covering this story live, with massive attention — not just Korean media. How are foreign outlets describing the atmosphere in Seoul right now? I have compiled all the coverage!
Live from the Scene: Jongno Streets Bathed in Purple
Out on the streets, the Jongno district in Seoul is already buzzing with festival energy. Purple banners reading "Welcome to Jongno — We Welcome BTS and All of You" are draped along the streets, along with traffic and safety control notices for today's (3/21) Gwanghwamun concert.
The ordinary downtown Seoul landscape has transformed, just for today, into a massive welcoming venue for ARMYs from around the world!

Tradition Meets the Moment: Gyeongbokgung Guard Changing Ceremony
Near the concert venue at Gwanghwamun, Gyeongbokgung Palace held its usual majestic guard changing ceremony. The sight of guards in traditional attire holding flags under a blue sky, with Bugaksan Mountain as the backdrop, is absolutely stunning. Knowing that BTS — global pop icons — will perform against this quintessentially Korean backdrop tonight fills the hearts of fans from all over the world gathered here.

1. "Genius Venue Choice... The Return of Icons Who Represent Korea" (AP, NBC)
First, AP and NBC News are placing enormous significance on the venue for this concert. Gwanghwamun Square, with Gyeongbokgung Palace behind it, is a landmark where Korean history, culture, and politics come alive.
International outlets are calling it "a stage that proves BTS are more than just popular musicians — they are symbolic representatives of Korean culture."
2. "Seoul Has Been Taken Over by Purple... At Least 260,000 People?!" (BBC)
BBC's coverage was jaw-dropping. They estimate that over 260,000 people are expected to flood the Gwanghwamun area today.
ARMYs from all over the world flew to Seoul to witness this historic first performance. Hotel rooms in Seoul are reportedly almost impossible to find. Just walking around Myeongdong or Hongdae, you can see so many foreign fans pulling suitcases!
3. "An Entire Capital City on High Alert Over a Single Artist" (The Guardian)
The Guardian focused on Seoul's monumental efforts to handle this unprecedented crowd. With astronomical numbers of people descending on the area, all roads around Gwanghwamun have been completely shut down, and police and safety personnel have been fully mobilized.
They even reported that the terror alert level has been raised as a precaution, noting that having an entire nation's capital go into emergency mode over a single artist's concert is truly unprecedented.
