At an Interview Room of a Small Company
A job interview was underway at a small IT company. In the tense interview room, the interviewer (a department manager) fixed a sharp gaze on the last remaining candidate and fired a question.
Manager: "Our company works quite a lot of overtime. We often have all-nighters too. Are you confident in your stamina?"
Candidate: "Yes! No problem at all! In college, I stayed up every night playing games, so I'm very confident about pulling all-nighters!"
The manager smiled with satisfaction and asked one more question.
Manager: "Good. Then lastly... if you join our company, what is your most powerful weapon? How can you contribute to the company?"
Without a moment's hesitation, the candidate's eyes sparkled as he answered.
. . .
Candidate: "My most powerful weapon is... 'youth'! I will dedicate my youth to making this company shine!"
The manager was so moved that he stood up and applauded. "You're hired!! Start tomorrow!!"
The Next Morning
The next morning at 9:00 AM. It was the new hire's first day of work. But past 9:30, his desk was still empty.
It was nearly 10:00 when the new hire came rushing in, out of breath.
Manager: (incredulous) "What? Being late on your very first day?! Where did all that boldness from yesterday go?"
The new hire, gasping for air, answered confidently.
. . .
New Hire: "Manager... Didn't I tell you that my most powerful weapon is 'youth'?"
Manager: "...And?"
New Hire: "I'm young, so I need way too much sleep!!!"
Manager: (clutches the back of his neck)
How was that? You'd think even the manager couldn't argue with the new hire's bold logic. (Please don't actually try this at work!)
